Early Christian red chasuble with silk pallium
Availability date:
The early Christian red chasuble is made of a particular brocade fabric with a flame design on which the pallium rests, which is instead made of red shantung silk.
The decoration of the pallium follows a geometric pattern and takes up the motifs of Byzantine decorations, such as those that can be observed in the mosaics of Ravenna
Byzantine decoration
The decoration of the pallium consists of small squares embroidered with white gold thread on which crystals and pearls are hand-sewn. The entire pallium is crossed by a thin golden perforated agreman, as is the entire profile of the head.
The liturgical priestly stole, ending with gold-colored bows, protrudes from the chasuble, showing off its elegant decoration, which recalls that of the pallium.
