The "Pelican" silver chalice with the effigy of Saint Joseph
The silver Pellicano chalice with the effigy of Saint Joseph is a very precious mass chalice, masterfully chiseled by hand.The sculptural complex that constitutes the stem of the chalice represents a pelican in the act of wounding its chest to feed the chicks at its feet with its blood, symbol of Christ's sacrifice for humanity.
The cup and the base of the "Pellicano" glass are embellished with personalized elements: while typical symbols of the Passion of Christ have been chiseled on the saucer, on the bottom, perfectly inserted into the decorative motifs, Saint Joseph is represented.
The overall style of the chalice refers to the sinuous shapes of the Baroque highlighted by the skilful use of chiselling and burnishing.
